What are the health benefits of Ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha is a traditional herb used as an adaptogen to bring the body back into balance. Benefits include reduced stress, mental chatter, and inflammation whilst supporting blood sugar and maintaining a healthy metabolism and energy.

How is Ashwagandha used in Ayurveda?

Ayurvedic practitioners use this herb as a general tonic to boost energy and reduce stress and anxiety. Ashwagandha root is considered a ‘Rasayana’ - a Sanskrit word which means ‘ultimate restorative and longevity nutrition’. Rasayana treatments were traditionally used after a period where the body was worn down or depleted and the mighty Ashwagandha is considered a truly powerful Rasayana, almost like a whole-body rejuvenator.

How long can you take Ashwagandha for?

Consuming ashwagandha on a daily basis is safe enough, however one should never exceed the recommended dose or time periods. Ideally up to 3 months is safe after which a break is advised.

Does Ashwagandha have side effects?

Large doses can cause upset stomach, diarrhoea, and vomiting. Talk to a doctor before using Ashwagandha if you have any health conditions.

How long does Ashwagandha take to work

It can take some time for Ashwagandha to start working within the body, and the timeframe varies depending on the individual and the health goal. Generally, at least 2 weeks to 1 month before feeling a change is the feedback we get from most customers.

Does Ashwagandha help you sleep?

Ashwagandha was traditionally used as a sleep aid, and the herb's generic name (Withania somnifera) includes a reference to that purpose. Ashwagandha may be able to help you sleep more deeply and for longer amounts of time without interruption.

How to take Ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha can be consumed as a capsule with water, milk, or as a powder combined into other beverages, and in other ways. In the Ayurvedic traditional method of ingestion is to combine the powder with ghee, honey, and warm milk.

Does Ashwagandha help with body building

One of the traditional purposes for this herb was to improve strength and muscular mass, and recent scientific research suggest that ashwagandha may be able to increase both muscle mass and strength, as well as physical stamina.
