Stories from our Growers: Amla
At the heart of our journey lies the stories of those who cultivate the ingredients we cherish.
At Fushi, we forge partnerships with growers who share our commitment to sustainability, integrity and excellence. Each of these suppliers has a tale to tell - of dedication to the land, their communities and the exceptional quality that defines Fushi products.
Meet the Communities behind our Amla
Every ingredient has a story, and our Organic Amla begins its journey in the forests of Bastar, Chhattisgarh, India. Revered in Ayurveda for thousands of years as a powerful Rasayana (rejuvenating herb), Amla has long been celebrated for supporting vitality, digestion and overall wellbeing.
Our Amla is sourced through Sunflag Agrotech, working alongside a community-based cluster of smallholder tribal collectors who harvest the fruit from the wild. This traditional approach helps preserve the natural ecosystem while creating meaningful opportunities for local families.
The project directly supports more than 25 tribal families, providing reliable income while promoting women-led operations, strengthening organic farming knowledge and helping to protect the region's rich biodiversity.
Every harvest is about more than producing exceptional ingredients - it's about investing in people, preserving indigenous knowledge and supporting communities for generations to come.
Harvested in Harmony with Nature
At Fushi, we believe nature knows best, which is why we work in harmony with the seasons.
Our Amla is harvested between November and February, when the fruit reaches its peak. Shortly after harvesting, it is carefully sun-dried using low-temperature traditional methods, helping to preserve its naturally high levels of Vitamin C and beneficial polyphenols while maintaining its vibrant quality.
Although the fruit is wild collected, sustainability remains central throughout the process. Local communities follow organic collection practices, while surrounding agricultural land is supported through crop rotation, natural composting, soil regeneration and environmentally conscious farming methods.
Every batch is fully traceable - from the forests of Bastar through processing and export - and independently tested for heavy metals, pesticides and microbial contamination, ensuring purity and quality every step of the way.
More than an Ingredient
Known as Amalaki in Ayurveda, Amla has earned its reputation as one of the most treasured rejuvenating fruits in traditional medicine.
Rich in naturally occurring Vitamin C and antioxidant polyphenols, it has traditionally been used to nourish the body, support immunity, aid healthy digestion and promote radiant skin and hair. Its balancing properties have made it a cornerstone of Ayurvedic wellness rituals for centuries.
Our Amla is carefully sun-dried immediately after harvest, allowing the fruit to retain its natural goodness while preserving the earthy aroma, tangy flavour and fine texture that make it such a versatile ingredient.
Sustainability at Every Step
From responsibly wild harvesting to sun drying using natural energy, every effort is made to minimise environmental impact. The whole fruit is utilised, with any by-products composted back into the soil, helping to create a circular system that supports long-term soil health.
The fruit is packed in recyclable, food-grade bags before being transported domestically for processing and export, reducing unnecessary waste while maintaining freshness and quality.
From Farm to Bottle
From the forests of Bastar to your daily wellness ritual, every batch of Fushi Organic Amla represents a connection between nature, community and Ayurveda.
Behind every spoonful is the dedication of tribal harvesting communities, the wisdom of centuries-old traditions and our unwavering commitment to sourcing ingredients with integrity. It's this journey - from forest to finished product - that allows us to bring you Amla at its freshest, purest and most nourishing.
